POLITICAL STRATEGY BREAKDOWN
Wealthy want to be politicians and incumbent politicians many times overlook the simplicity of a strategy to be elected or re-elected.
Always look for the strategy that will make you look as though you care about the People.
John McCain could very well be president today if he had not made Sarah Palin his running mate. Imagine what the election would have been like if he had named Condeleeza Rice as his VP. Condeleeza Rice was acceptable to Republican conservatives and to the dismay of the Obama strategists would have helped McCain pull some of the black vote, as well as a larger share of the women's vote to his corner.
Or, if he had named Olympia Snowe as his running mate. Olympia is well respected by many women in this country and would have cut into Obama's share of the women's vote.
McCain's biggest political blunder was Palin.
More recently, Meg Whitman tried to become governor of California by spending $177 million dollars on her campaign with $144 million dollars of her own money. She lost, but she could be governor today with one minor adjustment to her strategy.
Imagine if she would have spent some of that $144 million on helping the less fortunate population in California 1-2 years prior to running for office. Food pantries, health clinics, small business start-ups and help for under funded schools in minority districts. Meg would have put a facade of caring about the people on her Republican brand. A good PR strategist would have had a field day.
When the Democrats won a majority in the 2008 elections, they had the opportunity to show the People they cared and make changes to benefit the populace. Instead they fell into in-fighting and rolled over to the Republican minority and lost the 2010 elections.
Now, the Republicans want to make draconian cuts to the budget that will only hurt the majority of the populace and benefit the wealthy. The cuts will not hurt big business, bankers or wall street. Just you, The People.
The Tea Party con is working extremely well. Those Tea Party conservatives only care about the dollar in their pocket and the special interests that put that dollar in their pocket.
If they truly want to cut $100 billion dollars from the budget don't give the wealthy $70 billion dollars in tax cuts, don't give big oil $3.6 billion in tax credits, and don't give multinational corporations $30 billion dollars in tax loopholes.
And if they truly want to save social security, do the simple things like lifting the cap on earnings and don't give social security checks to those who have a yearly income over $100,000.00 in retirement. Just think if those CEOs had to pay ss tax on their salaries.
Tea Party Republicans are about to brand the Republican Party as the New Scrooge Party.
And their Motto: "Screw You People, We Got Ours!"
